Gotham

I was a bit wary about this series when I first heard of it but as soon as I found out what the basic plot would be I was very excited and started to count down the days until it showed up on TV. I watched the first two episodes and I was not disappointed. It was everything I hoped it would be and more. Donal Logue and Ben McKenzie are amazing as the incorruptible James Gordon and the very corrupt Harvey Bullock (Logue definitely has Bullock's habits down). I'd love this show even if it had nothing to do with Batman as I've always loved a story with an incorruptible cop cleaning up the streets and the police department. Gordon is also fearless and pretty bad-ass McKenzie does a great look when you can tell he's added another target to the list of people to take down. Check the look he gives Fish, Bullock and the Mayor the first time they say something dodgy, it's like he's making sure he remembers their face (he gives this look to Penguin and some of the thugs too).

Speaking of Mr Cobblepot, Robin Lord Taylor is currently my favourite thing about this show. He plays a violent psychopath so well. As I've mentioned in previous posts, I'm a big fan of an actor that can play crazy well and Robin Lord Taylor is one of them. He has you feeling sorry for him and starting to kinda like him a bit then, without warning, he turns scary and you remember he's the Penguin.

Jada Pinkett Smith is great in this too, playing a new character by the name of Fish Mooney. She also comes across as scary sometimes but I don't feel much if any sympathy for her. In the past decade I've only heard her voice in the awesome Madagascar movies so it's nice to see her in the flesh again, especially since she still looks stunning. Will got a good woman there.

There's another gorgeous woman in this, Erin Richards playing the part of Gordon's partner Barbara.

If you're a fan of comics or movies and TV shows about organized crime then this is worth giving a chance.
