The IT Crowd

The IT Crowd is one of the best comedy TV shows of all time and its no wonder why, for a start it's written and directed by one of the absolute best in comedy, Graham Linehan. You may have seen some of his work? He has worked on (some of which he helped create) The Armstrong and Miller Show, Black Books, Little Britain, Brass Eye, Harry Enfield and Chums, The Fast Show, The All New Alexei Sayle Show, The Day Today and who can forget his true masterpiece, Father Ted.

It probably also helps that the main cast are also all comedy legends separate of The IT Crowd, Chris O'Dowd (who has a hell of a hot wife) has been in numerous successful comedy movies as well as a few successful sitcoms including Moone Boy and Girls. His best character has to be Roy though, he's just such a stereotype geek, if he's not playing video games he's trying everything in his power to get laid.

"Why did you do it Roy?" "The same reason I do everything, to have sex with a lady."
Then there's the legend that is Richard Ayoade who you might know too as he's worked on many popular comedies; Garth Marenghi's Dark Place, Noel Fielding's Luxury Comedy, Community, Smack the Pony, The Armstrong and Miller Show and The Mighty Boosh as well as a few semi-successful movies. As with Chris O'Dowd though Ayoade's best character has to be from The IT Crowd, Maurice Moss or Moss. He is wonderfully naive and always shocks when he knows about something other than computers.

"I came here to drink milk and kick ass... and I've just finished my milk."
Most British people will probably know of Noel Fielding most notable for Noel Fielding's Luxury Comedy, The Might Boosh and Never Mind the Buzzcocks. He plays Richmond, possibly the best comedic portrayal of a goth ever. In my opinion the only goths that come close are the South Park goths.

"An ill wind is blowing..."
Their manager, Jen Barber, is played by Katherine Parkinson who was in The Bleak Old Shop of Stuff and Doc Martin. She's an old school stereotype of a woman, being more concerned with social status and shoes than anything else. I also find her pretty damn hot to be honest, she's actually the reason I like a woman in office dress.

"I've got Aunt Irma Visiting."
Then there's the heads of the company, father and son, both played by comedy legends. Matt Berry of House of Fools, Garth Marenghi's Dark Place and The Mighty Boosh and voice of Absolute Radio is Douglas Reynholm, a dimwitted sexual deviant that probably holds the record for most sexual harassment lawsuits. He takes a fancy towards Jen and as a result saves the IT Crowd from being fired. Who can forget his epic entrance to the show?

"Unhand me Priest!"
Last but certainly not least is Christopher Morris, famous for Brass Eye, Jam, I'm Alan Partridge and The Day Today. He is (or was) Denholm Reynholm, an old school kind of boss that for some reason has a love for the lowly IT crowd as he spends a lot of time trying to be their friend, he tends to join in with their weirdness when everyone else avoids them.

"That's the sort of place this is, Jen. A lot of sexy people, not doing much work and having affairs."
Also keep an eye out for some well-known faces of comedy like Peter Serafinowicz, Dolly Wells, Adam Buxton, Charlie Baker and Danny Wallace to name a few.

If you haven't seen this yet and love British comedy then you should give it a shot.
